Idukki is one of the 14 districts in the Indian state of Kerala and was established on 26 January 1972. For the people of Kerala, Idukki has always been associated with development. Its headquarters was earlier in Kottayam village but was shifted to Painavu and Kuilimala near Cheruthoni in June.
