Krishnapuram Palace is a palace and museum located at Kayamkulam near Alappuzha in the Alappuzha district of the Western Indian state of Kerala. It was built by Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma (1729-1758 AD) of the Travancore kingdom in the 18th century. It is built in the Kerala architectural style with gabled roofs, narrow corridors and skylights and is located near the Krishnaswamy temple in Krishnapuram. The palace, managed by the ministry, includes exhibitions of the palace and its former resident, Maharaja Masunda Varma of Travancore. It is also famous for the large lake in the palace complex. It is said that there is an underground passage under the lake that can be used to escape from the enemy. Measuring 154 square feet (14.3 square metres), it is said to be the largest found in Kerala.
