Tangasseri Lighthouse or Thangassery Lighthouse is located in Tangasseri, Kollam, Kerala, India. It is one of the two lighthouses in the Kollon city area and is managed by the Director General of Lighthouses and Lighthouses, Cochin. The cylindrical lighthouse, in use since 1902, is diagonally white and red and is the second tallest lighthouse on the Kerala coast at 41 meters (135 feet). Tangasseri Lighthouse is one of the most beautiful lighthouses in Kerala. Before the lighthouse was built, the British East India Company installed a tower filled with batteries. The current Tangassery Lighthouse was completed in 1902, but by 1930 the lighthouse developed cracks and a casing wall had to be installed. The light was renewed in 1932, 1940, 1962, 1967, 1990 and 1994.
