Thirumullavaram Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Kollam and a tourist destination in Kerala. The beach is located in Thirumullavaram, a prominent community of Kollon City. The beach is famous for hosting the Karkidaka Vavubali ceremony. Every year thousands of devotees come to the beach to perform Vavubali Tharpanam. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in South India. The beach area is covered with coconut trees, making it shady and quiet. The beach is connected to all major roads in the state, making it easily accessible. Local dishes, which are mainly made of coconut and flavored with spices such as cardamom, black pepper, cloves, cinnamon and ginger, also attract the attention of many tourists. The lake called "Njarazhcha Para", meaning "Market Rock", is another point that attracts the attention of tourists. At low tide the mound is clearly visible from the shore about a mile and a half out to sea. According to a 2018 survey by the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute of India (CMRFRI), Thirumullavaram Beach is one of the top 16 beaches in India, with Kerala ranking first.
