Kannur Lighthouse is located near Payyambalam Beach, a few kilometers from the city of Kannur in the southern Indian state of Kerala. Next to Seaview Park and Government Hotel. The lighthouse is still operational and overlooks the Arabian Sea. Kannur is the old English name of the city of Kannur. Kannur Lighthouse is still commonly known as Kannur Lighthouse. Construction of this 25 meter high lighthouse started in early 1903. In 1498, the Portuguese, led by Vasco da Gama, set foot on Capade Beach for the first time.
