Illikkal Kallu is Thalanadu located above Illickal Malaa in the Kottayam district of the Indian state of Kerala. The distance from Kottayam railway station to illikal kallu is 57 km. Illickal Kallu is located at an altitude of 3500 feet and is a major tourist attraction in Thalanadu. L.S.G.D., Thalandu village, Meenachil taluk. Only half of the original stone remains, the other half has fallen off. The nearest town is Tikoy. Many mountains flow from this peak and form the Minachil river. To reach the top, visitors need to walk less than 1 km. Each mountain has its own unique shape. One of them resembles a mushroom and hence is called Kuda Kallu (umbrella stone). The second hill has a small mound on either side and hence is called Koonu Kallu (Hunchback Rock). There is a 1 ft 2 ft wide bridge connecting these two mountains called Narakapalam (Hell Zone). The beauty and landscape of Ilikkal kallu is similar to the stone pillars of Kodaikanal. Neela Koduveli plants are not known to grow here. This mysterious blue flower is also believed to have supernatural powers that can bring wealth, prosperity and good luck. On the evening of the full moon, it is beautiful to watch the sunset from the top of the mountain: the orange light of the sun can be seen, and the moon rises like another sun. One of the most popular tourist attractions in Kottayam is Illickal Kallu, located atop a majestic hill called Illickal Mala. At an altitude of 6,000 feet, Illickal Mala has many mountain streams that form the peaceful Meenachil River.
