Vilangan Hills is a hill in the Adat Panchayat near the city of Thrissur in the Indian state of Kerala. The upper part offers panoramic views of Thrissur city and Thrissur-Poonanikolai wetlands. This hill is known as the oxygen tank of Thrissur city. The name “Vilangan Kunnu” is a misnomer because “Vilangan” itself means hill. You don't need to add "Kunnu" after "Vilangan". It is an old Malayalam word originating from the Proto-Dravidian language. The word "Kunnu" was not used by tax officials and villagers until the 1970s. This is a new addition. "Vilangan" in Tamil also means hill. The top of the mountain covers an area of 5 acres and is 80 meters above sea level. The mountain served as a military and observation point during World War II. It is also one of the most popular meeting places in Thrissur region. Popularly known as the 'oxygen reservoir' of Thrissur, Vilangan Kunnu is a lush green area with many species of animals and fauna. The site now has many new facilities, including fun rides for children. One of the highlights here is the 16D theater. It has seats that can rotate 180 degrees. You can watch the waterfall, feel the snow, and even inhale its aromas without getting up. They collaborated with the National Medicinal Herbs Board, Vilangan Trekkersâ Club and Asokavana Samiti to establish 'Asokavanam'.
