Vizhinjam Lighthouse or Trivandrum Lighthouse is located near Kovalam Beach in Kerala. There was no light in this location before the current lighting was installed. The solar light (flagpole) must have existed in the 18th century. After the 19th century, the port remained neglected. In 1925, a lighthouse was built near Kolachal. Later, in 1960, a day marking mark was installed at Vizhinjam. The lighthouse was built in 1904 on the cape overlooking the Arabian Sea.
