Neyyar Dam is a gravity dam located on the Neyyar River in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala State in southern India. It is located in the foothills of the Western Ghats, about 30 kilometers from Trivandrum. It was a popular picnic spot many years ago. Nayyar Dam is located against the low mountains of the southern Western Ghats and has a beautiful lake. . Agastya kooodam peak is close to Neyyar dam. The dam was built for irrigation purposes on the land of farmer Karuvachiyil Krishan Panicker, Janaki Thankamma's father and other members of the Maruthummoottil family. A Nayyar river flows into the western region of Tamil Nadu. The main river passes through Neyyar, Kalikadu, Otasekaramangalam, Alyankod, Khezharur, Perumukadavila, Malayamuttom, Neyatinkara and Povar and finally flows into the Arabian Sea.
